Built in Germany in 1664. A water powered 3-1/2 ton, 10 foot diameter sphere that rotated once every 24 hours.

Designed by Dr. Wallace Atwood in Chicago, Illinois. It is 15 feet in diameter, electrically driven and is still in use today at Chicago’s Adler Planetarium Museum.
